 JEAN-BAPTISTE RICHARDIER

Jean-Baptiste Richardier is a Physician, co-founder and Executive Director of Handicap International. He is behind the opening of Handicap International sections in Belgium, Switzerland, Luxemburg, Germany, England, Canada, and the United States.
He has led several international missions: Ethiopia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Bosnia, Burundi, Croatia, Djibouti, India, Kenya, Pakistan, Rwanda, Serbia, Mozambique, Kosovo, and Palestine.

He is President of Survey Action Inc.; an American NGO specialized in the socio-economic impact of landmines.

Handicap International is a founding member of The International Campaign to Ban Landmines and has been actively involved in this battle since its inception. It is also a founding member of the Cluster Munition Coalition (CMC), which currently brings together around 150 NGOs from around the world in order to make their voices heard and to lobby for a ban on cluster bombs.

This organisation has set up programmes in 60 countries worldwide, and provides assistance to mine and clusterbomb victims. It is also involved in a wide range of activities in the fight against mines, including demining, risk education, information gathering, and advocacy for a ban on mines and clusterbombs.
