CONTEST

“Working together towards rights and social participation”

Organized as part of the 21st RI World Congress in Quebec City, this competition will demonstrate how partnerships can eliminate or reduce obstacles to social participation, or how concrete means of promoting or ensuring rights that foster the long-term social participation of people with disabilities can be developed.

Entries may be in the form of a text, audio recording, video recording, visual work (photograph, drawing, model, object), or a combination of these elements that clearly illustrates the achievement.

The originators of the best entries will be rewarded and recognized at the Congress. Some entries may be included in a permanent exhibition titled “Social Participation Space”, which will be launched as part of the Congress, in Quebec City in 2008.

Competition dates
Submission of competition entries are from May 1st, 2007. It is not necessary to register for the Congress in order to submit an entry and potentially receive a prize.

Who can submit an entry?
Anyone interested in the individual or collective protection of the rights of people with disabilities may participate, including people with disabilities and their families, members of associations, professionals, and partners supporting adaptation, rehabilitation, and social participation, as well as other community stakeholders. Anyone is welcomed to demonstrate how a collective project with respect to social participation and the rights of people with disabilities and their families, has helped engage social players in their respective country, region, or community.
